  • What is Hemorrhoid?
  • Hemorrhoids, which happen to many people at least once in their lifetime, are also known as hemorrhoids among the people. In fact, hemorrhoids, which are vascular structures and connective tissue that control stool in the anal canal, see a tampon in the anus. When hemorrhoids become swollen or inflamed, they can turn into a painful and / or bleeding hemorrhoid breast.

  • Why is it caused?
  • Many factors such as pregnancy and heavy work requiring straining play a role in the development of hemorrhoids, especially constipation.

  • What are the symptoms?
  • Symptoms depend on the type of hemorrhoid. Internal hemorrhoids are usually painless and can be seen with rectal bleeding, while external hemorrhoids may cause severe pain and swelling in the anus area if they are thrombosed.

  • How is it diagnosed?
  • In the presence of external hemorrhoids, the diagnosis can be made quickly. Additional examinations such as anal canal, rectum examination or colonoscopy may be required for the diagnosis of internal hemorrhoids. It is not possible to detect hemorrhoids at an early stage due to the patient's hesitation to go to the physician due to the condition where the disease is found. The physician is only consulted in the advanced or late stage when the bleeding is very unbearable, and the pain is unbearable. For this reason, other benign or malignant anorectal diseases that occur with hemorrhoid-like bleeding are also diagnosed at an advanced stage. Early diagnosis enables many patients to be treated easily without surgery. The appropriate method of treatment is commonly decided by the specialist physician after examination.
  • What should be considered to prevent hemorrhoids?
  • As in other anal region diseases, gaining a regular toilet habit without constipation and diarrhea, staying for a short time without straining in the toilet are the most important protection methods. For regular toilet habits, plenty of fiber foods such as vegetables and fruits and plenty of water should be consumed.

  • When should a doctor be consulted?
  • If comfortable defecation is not possible despite the consumption of fibrous food and plenty of water, a physician should definitely be consulted. The presence of pain and bleeding during defecation, the amount and color of the bleeding, and the style such as drip or squirt are important. It is also recommended to consult a physician if your defecation habits change. If defecation, which is a physiological action that normally relaxes the human body, causes discomfort, distress and stress, then there is an abnormal situation, and a doctor must be consulted without delay.

  • How is it treated?
  • In the early stages of hemorrhoid disease, sitting in warm water, medications and correction of toilet habits generally provide success in recovery. In advanced stages, classical surgical methods or advanced laser technologies are applied. Owing to the diode laser and longo stapler hemorrhoidopexy methods, which are the most widely used and do not cause pain, which is the fearful dream of the patients after the operation, the patient can continue his daily life immediately after the procedure. The application of both methods, postoperative recovery and complication rates are superior to classical surgical methods. Patients are discharged on the same day after the method application under surgical conditions and under local anesthesia.
